BMW is recalling 6,400 2014 BMW X5 SUVs because the child-safety

2015-bmw-x5-pure-experience-70

BMW of North America is recalling 6,400 2014 BMW X5 SUVs because the child-safety locks may disengage, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

“The rear side door lock mechanisms may not have been manufactured to correct tolerances and when the inside door handle is pulled, the previously engaged child-safety lock can disengage,” said NHTSA in its summary of the problem. “A disengaged child-safety lock would allow the rear-seat occupant to pull the door handle twice and open the door while the vehicle is parked or in motion, increasing the risk of injury.”

No injuries have been reported so far.

BMW Alternator System | BMW Service in Greensboro, NC

BMW Alternator Assembly Charging Systems : BMW Greensboro, NC

BMW Alternator System

Your BMW is full of complex and intricate mechanisms and systems. Its engine, just like in any other vehicle, serves as the core system of the life of your BMW car. It is the engine that is considered as the system that controls almost all of the systems of the automobile. Without the engine, it would be impossible to put the vehicle in motion. However, the functions of the engine system would not be possible without the help of another system – the electrical system.

The electrical system transforms mechanical power to electrical power and transmits it from one automotive system and to another. The electrical system owes its power in turn from another electrical component: the battery. The battery is the heart of the electrical system. The same with the engine’s need for gasoline to keep its function, the battery also needs to be fed, or else its voltage will be lost. Eventually, the system would not be able to convey its significant participation to the entire operation of the automobile.

This is where the charging system comes into play. The charging procedure of the electrical system of your BMW car is carried out through the alternator. The alternator is one of the two basic components (the other one is the voltage regulator) of the charging system. These components work together with the battery to supply the necessary power or current whenever your BMW car is running. The output it actually produces is direct current as your BMW alternator is responsible for the process of generating and delivering electrical power to the battery and the rest of the electrical system of the car.

The alternator produces voltage and current by simply using the principle of electromagnetic induction. The process would basically revolve around the magnet (rotor), rotated inside a stationery looped conductor (stator) and then a voltage is generated. It is important to note that the strength and polarity of the voltage is dependent to these factors: on the direction of rotation; the strength of the magnetic field; the number of conductors; and as well as the speed of the rotor inside the stator.

The BMW alternator assembly is the arrangement of many components. If the charging system of your car is not working properly (intermittent charging results) there is something wrong with this assembly. Normally, your BMW alternator would fail to work because of the regulator brushes located at the back of the alternator. As part of preventive measures, you should get the system checked on a regular basis to detect whatever the cause of the failure is, here at Eurobahn Motorsports we will be happy to do that for you.

BMW Six-Cylinder Engine | BMW Greensboro, NC

New BMW Six-Cylinder Engine, S55 | Greensboro, NC

BMW Greensboro, NC

The new BMW M3 Sedan and new BMW M4 Coupe from BMW M see a return to a six-in-line engine configuration, as used on the second and third generations of this iconic sports car. The new turbocharged unit, which can develop more than 7,500 rpm, combines the best of both worlds – on the one hand a high-revving design for instant response, linear power delivery over a wide engine speed range and an unmistakable and characterful engine note, and on the other hand BMW TwinPower Turbo technology for maximized torque over a broad rpm range. Efficiency is another important component of this new powerplant.

The new engine sees a slight power upgrade over the previous V8 to approximately 430 hp, while peak torque has been increased by well over 30 per cent to substantially more than 500 Newton metres, and is maintained over a very wide rev band. The new powerplant also boasts excellent fuel consumption, with an improvement of more than 25 per cent over the previous model’s figures, while emissions are already EU6-compliant

Six-cylinder in-line high-revving, turbocharged engine.

The new BMW M3 Sedan and new BMW M4 Coupe from BMW M GmbH see a return to a six-in-line engine configuration, as used on the second and third generations of this iconic sports car. The new turbocharged unit, which can develop more than 7,500 rpm, combines the best of both worlds – on the one hand a high-revving design for instant response, linear power delivery over a wide engine speed range and an unmistakable and characterful engine note, and on the other hand BMW TwinPower Turbo technology for maximised torque over a broad rpm range. A further hallmark of this engine is its outstanding efficiency.

More power, more than 30% increase of torque, more than 25% increase of efficiency.

The BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology comprises two mono-scroll turbochargers, High Precision Direct Injection, VALVETRONIC variable valve timing and Double-VANOS seamlessly variable camshaft timing. The variable valve and camshaft timing provide fully variable control of intake valve lift. This allows the engine to deliver its power smoothly and efficiently, resulting in lower fuel consumption and emissions. At the same time, throttle response is even sharper than before.

Optimized responsiveness through impulse charging. Flow-enhanced manifolds. Charge pressure control designed to optimize dynamics. Electric wastegate actuator for high precision.

Optimized crankcase and crankshaft design.

The six-cylinder engine features a closed-deck crankcase design, which increases rigidity and allows cylinder pressures to be increased for maximized power output. And instead of liners, the cylinder bores feature a twin-wire arc-sprayed coating, which results in a significant reduction in engine weight.

Track-ready cooling system and engine oil supply for outstanding performance.

The exceptional performance of the BMW M3 Sedan and BMW M4 Coupe also demands an exceptionally sophisticated thermal management system for the engine and ancillary units. To ensure optimal operating temperatures both in short everyday trips around town and also when the vehicle is being driven flat out on the track, the M GmbH engineers developed a highly efficient cooling system, comprising a main radiator plus additional radiators for the high- and low-temperature circuits, turbocharger and transmission, while a temperature-stabilizing electric water pump ensures that the engine can develop its full performance at all times.

The engine oil supply system, too, reflects the extensive motor sport experience of BMW M GmbH. The low-weight magnesium oil sump, for example, features a special cover to limit movement of the oil under the effects of strong dynamic lateral acceleration. Under extreme longitudinal acceleration and deceleration, an oil extraction pump and a sophisticated oil return system situated close to the turbocharger likewise help to maintain uninterrupted oil circulation. Oil is therefore supplied continuously to all engine components in all driving situations – whether in everyday motoring or during hard driving on the track.

Automobile Manufacturers Ditch Side Mirrors in 2017 – Greensboro, NC

The 12-member Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, which represents such companies as BMW, General Motors, Toyota and Volkswagen, filed a petition with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to use sideview cameras instead of mirrors.

tesla-model-X-prototype-front-left-side-view

Tesla and the Alliance argue that cameras could be just as safe while offering gains in aerodynamics. This is because side mirrors have to jut out farther from the car to be effective, and that creates drag.

“In light of future greenhouse gas and corporate average fuel economy requirements beginning in 2017,” their petition says, “camera-based systems represent an opportunity to increase vehicle fuel efficiency through improved aerodynamics by eliminating externally mounted mirrors.”

The filling goes hand in hand with the latest ruling by NHTSA that will require rearview cameras in all light-duty vehicles produced after mid-2018. Tesla sees eliminating side mirrors as a way to extend the driving range of its electric cars.

The use of 360 camera systems and rear view cameras come to support the filling and the automakers that safety will remain at the highest levels.

It remains unknown what BMW’s position is but we have no doubt that Elon Musk will continue to push this issue.

BMW Strut Assembly : BMW Service in Greensboro, NC

BMW Strut Assembly: BMW Service in Greensboro, NC

Does your car give you an uneasy and uncomfortable feeling as it lean its way every time you are on a tight curve? Or does it rock from side to side when you are changing lanes. Rear_suspension_strut_L_28.07.2010

If your car is having a drift form left to right whenever you apply brakes firmly at a high speed, well the problem then must be your strut assembly. A badly shaped strut can affect greatly the performance of your car when it comes to speed and durability. Along with it, a worn out shock can also affect you car’s breaking effectiveness.

We all know that shocks are the one responsible in giving us a comfortable ride in our car. But what we don’t know with them is that they also influence the control and handling characteristics of your vehicle. Struts along with the shocks can wear out gradually because of the constant bump your car usually gets. Excessive driving on a rocky surface can extremely affect the life of your strut. Struts are the first in line from being battered from extreme hostile that the underneath of your car usually gets.

Usually on BMW cars, strut assembly is composed of a strut housing that provides the rigorous structural support for the assembly, a coil spring are used to support the vehicles weight and a damping unit within the strut housing are the one who controls the movement of the spring and the suspension. Steering knuckle is being attached also to the bottom of the strut body in which it is connected in the lower arm control using a lower ball joint. The assembly also includes a jounce bumper that is located under the upper spring seat. The main purpose of this part is to limit the travel that was made by the suspension by not allowing the components to hit each other.

Finally, in the end of the strut assembly there is a large nut that holds everything together in place. Vehicle strut assembly must be always checked at least once a year to ensure its conjunction to the alignment of the wheel. So, if you need a strut assembly for your BMW then you came to the right place — Eurobahn Motorsports. You don’t have to worry because we can install in as well.

Mercedes-Benz Brake Disc Repair : Mercedes-Benz Service Repair in Greensboro NC

Mercedes-Benz Brake Disc Repair : Mercedes-Benz Service Repair in Greensboro NC

Are the Brakes Squealing on your Mercedes-Benz?

It might be time to replace your Brake Discs.

Mercedes Disc brake

The braking system being your primary defense against speed-related accidents, all parts of the said assembly must always be working properly. This is especially true among the brake pads, calipers, and your brake disc. The disc is the component that provides a surface area for the pads to clamp on so that your car can be stopped. The disc should remain tough under all the forces that the pads exert, and they should efficiently dissipate heat in whatever braking condition.

Incompetent braking systems are a big no-no if you’d like to attain safe and sound vehicle operation, and in fact, a high quality Mercedes Benz brake disc just might help you avoid this sort of predicament. Your vehicle uses the friction generated by the brake pads in order to bring your ride to a complete stop, though the high temperature produced by this friction will require an outstanding brake disc to keep it from deteriorating your brakes. If your brakes produce too much heat due to friction, they could very well succumb to brake fade, and that’s exactly why you must combat this issue using a high quality brake disc constructed by Mercedes Benz.

Basically, the brake disc is an auto part that the brake pads press together to be able to the stop the vehicle tires and is key to your ride’s braking system. The Mercedes Benz brake disc is attached to your vehicle’s tire and axle and allows you to decrease the speed of your vehicle as gradually as possible without inadvertently wearing the brakes thin.  We have Factory Trained Mercedes-Benz Technicians that will replace and repair your brake systems. Regardless of the kind of brake disc you ultimately choose, it would be the best idea that you purchase one that’s made by Mercedes Benz, and we have Genuine Mercedes-Benz parts at a much lower price.

Here at Eurobahn Motorsports, we’ve got top notch aftermarket parts just waiting for you and we will never run short of products to help you with all your automobile needs. We offer only the most reliable and most cost-effective brake discs.

Mercedes-Benz Oxygen Sensor Repair : Mercedes-Benz Service in Greensboro NC

Mercedes-Benz Oxygen Sensor Repair : Mercedes-Benz Service in Greensboro NC

Is your Mercedes-Benz Check Engine Light on?

If it is, there’s a fairly good chance that a bad O2 sensor is causing the problem.

Mercedes exhaust 02 sensor

Have you heard of the terms O2 sensor, lambda probe, lambda sensor, lambda sound or how about EGO which stands for exhaust gas oxygen sensor? These terms are used synonymously with the term oxygen sensor. For most car owners, it would be impossible to be familiarized with the different car parts considering their huge number, and that is why our ASE Certified Technicians at Eurobahn Motorsports take charge every time a problem is encountered with any of these parts. The oxygen sensor is among the very rare car part that is subjected to malfunctions; however should you come across with a problem with this part give us a call because it needs to be replaced.

Oxygen sensors including those of the Mercedes Benz’s are hollow tube devices inserted into the exhaust manifold. This tube is divided into two compartments (the inner and the outer) by U-shaped rod coated platinum for the purpose of measuring the volume of oxygen remaining in the exhaust gas and allows an electronic system called electric control unit or ECU, to control the efficiency of the engine’s combustion process. This whole process helps in keeping the engine in perfect and tip-top condition.

Mercedes Exhaust system

Furthermore, an oxygen sensor works whenever the exhaust gas enters the outer compartment through a series of slits, and air is made available to the inner compartment through a vent at one end. In the event that this process takes place, an electrical signal is produced by the platinum as a reaction to the difference in oxygen content on either end of the rod, thus the said signal lets the computer know how much oxygen is in the exhaust and the computer will now tell how well the fuel is burning. The driver or the owner will now know if his car’s engine is still working properly, and can give immediate attention when necessary.

Oxygen sensors are widely and commonly used in automotive applications that is why, here at Eurobahn Motorsports we offer the best quality of oxygen sensors you will need especially for your Mercedes Benz automobiles. We guarantee your optimum satisfaction upon repairing your Mercedes-Benz with us.

Mercedes-Benz Radiator Repair : Mercedes-Benz Service in Greensboro NC

Mercedes-Benz Radiator Repair : Mercedes-Benz Service in Greensboro NC

Prevent your Mercedes-Benz from Over Heating

The engine of a car can be compared to a sleeping Tyrannosaurus. It is peaceful while it slumbers and might even be calm when it wakes up. But the moment it finds its stride, it can be capable of wreaking havoc on anything relative to it. This exploit is capable of putting an end to almost everything. For an overheating car engine, a car breakdown might be close at hand.

Mercedes-Benz Radiator

An overheating engine can only be appeased by a good car radiator. It is a device meant to play this very important role. A car radiator releases a liquid composed of water and antifreeze. This liquid, which is termed coolant, is then pumped through channels running through the engine and cylinder head. After it passes through the thermostat, it goes back to the radiator again where it is cooled once more. Because of this process, heat is conducted away from the engine parts, allowing smooth performance of the engine system and the car itself.

Mercedes Benz cars employ radiators that do this function with admirable capability. Mercedes Benz radiators are tough and dependable enough not to break down easily, matching the performance Mercedes Benz cars are ultimately known for. Mercedes Benz cars are well-loved and well-respected, the reason why they are manufactured to exclusively employ parts that deserve to be top-of-the-line.

Should you need a replacement radiator, make sure you bring your vehicle to Eurobahn Motorsports. We have Factory Trained Mercedes-Benz technicians who have been working on Mercedes-Benz vehicles for years, and we are much cheaper than the dealer.

Mercedes Benz radiators can be availed of as replacement, used, classic and cheap, but these are only designations that say the same about these radiators performance-wise. They are contraptions meant to do their job, and in so doing, give Mercedes Benz cars the chance to avoid greater problems that could be caused by radiator malfunction. You can even order your Mercedes-Benz part online.

Not many people realize the significance of a good car radiator. It only has one specific function, but the importance of this function is undeniable – it is the one which keeps everything working well under the hood of the car. Without it, chaos that could result to something much worse could possibly take place. The employment of quality car radiators, specifically of the Mercedes Benz radiator type, is sure to pay off.

Nobody could possibly have any idea about how a raging Tyrannosaurus could be calmed down, but something could obviously be done for a raging car engine. The radiator is the answer, and for such a small contraption, it does something that is supposed to be so difficult with only very minimal effort.
