What with all Porsche’s success in circuit racing, it’s rather easy to forget its presence in international rallying. It was a while ago now, of course, but there were three consecutive Monte Carlo wins in the late 1960s and the pair of Dakar wins in the 80s, plus numerous triumphs for private entrants in various Porsches over the years.

More recently, specialists Tuthill had its incredible 997 GT3 homologated for WRC use and Porsche teased a Cayman rally car at the end of last year. Following up on the latter, there is now this, the official 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport R-GT car, spurred on by the positive response to the 2018 concept.

It’s based, of course, on the GT4 revealed just a couple of weeks ago, using the same 425hp 3.8-litre flat-six and seven-speed PDK. With R-GT regs aimed at being relatively low cost, using a spec close to the production car makes sense. Porsche says a focus “was put on performance, drivability and sustainability” when creating the R-GT Cayman; or rather, the natural fibre used in construction of the track car is also found here, only now with spotlights on the front and spikes on the tyres.

Still, the more rear-wheel drive rally cars in the world can only be good news. The GT4 R-GT made its debut at the GP Ice Race over the weekend, with Richard Lietz driving (and presumably having lots of fun). Porsche expects the car to be ready for the 2020 season, which should hopefully spur more manufacturers to develop R-GT racers. See the below video of the GT3 for further proof of why sports car rally cars being the best rally cars…

All New 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA first official Image are here

second generation, 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA.

Mercedes-Benz is pulling the canvas off the new four-door coupe CLA later today, but unfortunately for the German brand, Australian blog Caradvice has already decided to release all the official photos online.

The new 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA will slot for the first time next to another four-door car in Mercedes’ compact model family: the A-Class Limousine. However, the CLA is the sportier alternative to that proper four-door sedan. As far as exterior dimensions are concerned, the all-new CLA is slightly larger than its predecessor: 48mm (1.89in) longer, 53mm (2.08in) wider, and 2mm (0.07in) lower.

2018 Mercedes A-Class Sedan prices start at 30,916 euros

The interior of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA is virtually identical to that of its other brothers in the compact family, but the exterior shows more affinity with that of bigger cars in the line-up, such as the latest CLS. Particularly at the back, references to the GLC / GLE Coupé and the aforementioned CLS are clearly seen.

The orange details we see on the black example of the new 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA will, of course, only be associated with the First Edition model.

For the world premiere hosted by this year’s CES, Mercedes-Benz decided to present the top-of-the-line CLA 250 variant. This translates to a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine (100% made by Mercedes) good for 224 PS (221 HP) and 349 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. Other engines, including smaller Renault sourced variants and the AMG tuned A 35 will follow. For more info come back later today.

It has not been a great week for the BMW Communications department. The scheduled unveil of the new 2020 BMW 7 Series Facelift was scheduled for next week, but Internet leakers got an early start. Yesterday we saw a photo leak from Russia giving us a partial view of the car, followed today by a full unveil of the front-end.

Hours later, someone responsible for the BMW online configurators have uploaded the full views of the new 7 Series Facelift. The images show the 7er in Alpine White and in the M760Li, 750Li M Sport and regular 750Li configurations.2020 BMW 7 Series Facelift 02 830x467

The images also show the 2020 7 Series with the M Sport and Luxury trims, as well as different wheel options. While the front-end is not a surprise anymore, the side view confirms our previous reports – the hockey stick design has changed, it now sits upright and extends further into the side view.

In the back, we’re getting slightly redesigned tail lights connected by a slim light bar. The rear bumper has also gone through a redesign, based on the specific trim.

While these seem to be official computer generated images, we’re still waiting for the full set of videos and photos which will likely keep their release schedule next week.
